Frequently Asked Questions

River of Grace Sabbatical Information

  • River of Grace provides one-week sabbatical retreats for persons seeking healing and restoration.
  • Sabbatical retreats are granted to individuals and/or families recovering from grief or intense stress, emotional or physical trauma, life-threatening illnesses, or families that have children with disabilities. The facility is not provided for family reunions or vacations. The facility is not suitable for large group events, rather it is intended for one or two families at a time.
  • We serve military families, persons suffering from chronic illness, families with disabled children, persons recovering from addiction, dedicated servants at churches and charities, families struggling with marriage, stress, grief, and loss, and others in need of healing and restoration.
  • Applicants will be prioritized and granted on a case-by-case basis. In some instances, this will be first come-first served, in others this will be based on a hierarchy of need or crisis.
  • This will be a self-led sabbatical that consists of free housing and does not include food or transportation to the site. There is no therapy or counseling available on-site.
  • This facility is a new condo-like lodging similar to a VRBO on a 20-acre complex in central Colorado, situated along the Arkansas river, surrounded by a National park with amazing views of some of the tallest mountains in North America.
  • The lodging includes two bedrooms, a full kitchen, a dining room, a sitting room, and access to a laundry. One bedroom is a king, the second bedroom is a bunk room with a queen bed, a full-size bed, and a twin bed over the full-size bed. There are porta-cribs for infants. There is also a gas fireplace, a gas grill, workout equipment and an outdoor pavilion. Because of seasonal wildfire danger, open outdoor fires are discouraged.
  • The facility is at 8000’ elevation and may not be good for persons with severe heart or lung problems.
  • The facility is available year-round but the best season for visiting is May through September.
  • We cooperate with and support other organizations that are operated for similar purposes.
  • Since 2025, with the completion of construction of the guest house, we have served Pastors and their families, first-responders, and small bible study groups in Sabbatical retreats.
  • Interested parties make an application and provide a referral form from an employer, counselor, doctor, District President, head elder, or similar person.
  • Looking ahead, we are beginning an expansion with a new two-bedroom cabin and a neighboring one-bedroom cabin with garage, both solely dedicated to River of Grace. We expect completion of construction by summer 2027.
  • We accept donations to support ongoing operating expenses (taxes, utilities, insurance, cleaning) and for the capital construction of the two new cabins. You can donate on our website, RiverofGrace.us.
  • You can reach us at riverofgraceretreats@gmail.com.
